Sarah McCutcheon, M.D. is a board-certified Adult Psychiatrist. As a practitioner of mind-body medicine, Dr. McCutcheon uses a clinical approach that is oriented toward whole-person care and the development of a partnership with her patients. She endeavors to create a safe therapeutic space that promotes healing, meaningful change, and authentic living. In her clinical practice, she incorporates a variety of modern psychiatric tools, as well as scholarship from the humanities and biomedical sciences. Her practice model has been deeply influenced by her experiences in varied clinical settings across a wide range of patient populations. A loyal and strong advocate for those with psychiatric and neuropsychiatric illness, Dr. McCutcheon takes pride in the delivery of compassionate, patient-centered, and high-quality care. 

 

Dr. McCutcheon graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. She completed medical school and her residency in Adult Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. She served as Chief Resident during her final year of residency. She remained at Johns Hopkins for the completion of clinical and research fellowships in Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Neurology with an emphasis on Age-Related Mood and Cognitive Disorders. In addition to being a board-certified Adult Psychiatrist, she is also certified in Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Neurology from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. 

 

Dr. McCutcheon previously served as a faculty member at the University of Iowa where she was engaged in patient care, clinical research, and medical education. She also participated in the prestigious Veterans Affairs (VA) Quality Scholars Program where she received training in the field of Patient Quality and Safety. Prior to joining Greatland Clinical Associates, Dr. McCutcheon worked for Southcentral Foundation at the Alaska Native Medical Center campus. She and her family relocated to Alaska in 2016 to be surrounded by the boundless beautify offered by the state.
