Dr. Yanagida, AKA Dr. Y was born and raised in Tokyo Japan. After graduating from Keio University, for eight years, he was a teacher and a tutor for the age groups from 13 to 18 year-old before he moved to the United States in 1986. He finished Post-baccalaureate from Columbia University, in New York, then he finished his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He finished his internship at the University of Louisville and completed his psychiatric residency at the University of North Dakota and was board-certified two years after the residency program. He then worked for Mayo clinic in Minnesota in four years and moved to Anchorage Alaska eight years ago.
He is very interested in helping students who are struggling academically due to the lack of confidence, lack of motivation, conflicts with teachers and schoolmates, and well as those who suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, ADHD. As a recovered ADHD person, he can offer a lot of skills he has acquired to study effectively and improve each client’s grades. He has helped his clients enter Veterinary school, Medical school and Law school in the United States.
He is also trained to provide Cognitive Behavioral therapy with problem solving, he uses these skills to help clients who suffer depression, mania, anxiety, panic attacks, social phobia, specific phobia, Post-Traumatic Stress disorder, and Obsessive Compulsive disorder.
He received training at the Eating Disorder Institute in North Dakota. He would like to help clients with eating disorders, especially bulimia and binge eating disorder and he is willing to see a client who has weight issues. He can provide, psychotherapy, medication management, diet and exercise education to help him or her lose weight.
He is also a serious athlete who used to take part in triathlon races, and he can also provide sports psychology for those athlete who have lost confidence.
